El Sherbini Withdraws From Oracle NetSuite Open Due to Injury

Egypt’s World No.2 Nour El Sherbini has withdrawn from the 2019 Oracle NetSuite Open after sustaining a knee injury.
The reigning World Champion was due to make her first appearance of the new season at the tournament in San Francisco next week.
The withdrawal of the tournament’s two seed reshuffles the women’s draw as a result. France’s Camille Serme moves up to second seed and will face either Belgium’s Nele Gilis or wildcard Haley Mendez in round two.
New Zealand’s Joelle King replaces Serme in the draw and receives a bye into round two where she faces either Belgium’s Tinne Gilis or United States’ Olivia Fiechter.
The reserve player who comes into the draw and will play compatriot Millie Tomlinson in round one, with the winner going on to play India’s Joshna Chinappa who receives a bye into the second round.
